Before the year ended in 2018, ASUS surprised us with another variety of their ZenFone Max smartphone. As though we thought that they would end with the ZenFone Max Pro M1, ASUS got us all wrong. They have released last December and officially introduced a much better, highly improved #BatteryKing smartphone, the ZenFone Max Pro M2.

Considering that the new ZenFone Max Pro M2 has an amazing price point (₱14,995.00) for its 6GB RAM + 64GB Internal Storage variant, its edge is the monster battery of 5,000mAh, which is very crucial to on-the-go mobile photographer and blogger like me, its dual lens camera system has also improved compared to the previous ZenFone Max edition.

As a mobile photography enthusiast and somehow a foodie, I always make sure that I take good photos of food I feature for my blog. Always looking for a smartphone that provides true-tone and details, I am happy with how the ZenFone Max Pro M2 dual lens system captures light and colors.

Here are some sample photos that were taken with the ZenFone Max Pro M2 (supported with natural lighting; unedited).

Portrait Mode

Since I allowed myself to enjoy the pleasure of mobile photography, I also tried playing with its depth effect feature that is best for portraits. With the new Zenfone Max Pro M2, it has a 12MP Sony IMX486 F1.8 + 5MP dual rear camera system1 that is built on high-class hardware for an amazing result on portrait mode.

Here are sample photos of the very popular ‘bokeh’2 effect.

The ZenFone Max Pro M2 does not stop from being competitive on mobile photography. With its dual lens camera system (that is already AI-enabled; updates will be available on software for early 2019), it can definitely provide amazing results. The 13MP F2.0 front-facing camera can also be utilized to take selfie photos with real-time beautification mode. Footnotes

  1. The dual-camera system in ZenFone Max Pro uses high-end hardware to take your photography to new heights. With its high-resolution, incredibly light-sensitive Sony® IMX486 sensor, ZenFone Max Pro takes any subject in its stride, so you’ll enjoy more-realistic photos at any time of day or night. Phase-detection autofocus (PDAF) and Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS) get rid of camera shake for blur-free handheld shots and videos, with accurate focusing on any subject, in an instant.
  2. For gorgeous portraits and close-ups, the second camera on ZenFone Max Pro uses depth-sensing technology to create an artistic ‘bokeh’ effect, putting the subject in sharp focus while blurring the background for a gentle yet powerful effect that really makes the subject stand out.
