Capture Beyond Limits: The realme 9 Unboxing, Initial Use, First Impressions

The realme 9 smartphone is said to be a companion to unleash our creativity all day long with its technical specifications on both hardware and software. The realme squad anticipated its release a month ago, specifically last June 14, 2022, as it followed the announcements of the other members of the realme 9 Series smartphones: the realme 9i, the realme 9 Pro, and the realme 9 Pro+. And yet again, realme, the leading smartphone brand for 2021 in the Philippines, catered to another demographic of mobile users in the smartphone market.

Capture Beyond Limits: The realme 9 Unboxing, Initial Use, First Impressions

Upon waiting for my demo unit for the realme 9, my anticipation heightened thinking of the chances to get either the Stargaze White or the Sunburst Gold color variant because of the pre-released introduction of the Ripple Holographic Design present to the back panel. It might have been a very special feeling to the sand dune effect when light hits the coating of the said color variants. Considering that I already have the Stereo Black on my realme 9i smartphone, I am still pleased to know that what arrived in the mail was a realme 9 in Meteor Black. Well, actually, I still prefer and would love to have this color even in the absence of the said Ripple Holographic Design. It’s that minimalist vibe that made me decide on the Meteor Black as a personal choice of color.

Main Camera System and Image Processing

When I have my quick unboxing of the realme 9, and went right away to the unit, and yes, the realme 9 is indeed the baby brother of the realme 9 Pro Series with its 7.99mm Slim Design. The camera module is somewhat similar but this specific model houses a 108MP ProLight Camera. It also includes an 8MP ultrawide camera lens with a 120-degree capture angle for the user to take a wider perspective on the photo. What completes its Triple Camera System at the rear is a 2 MP macro lens for that closer and details shots.

The 108MP ProLight Camera is powered by a Samsung ISOCELL HM6 Sensor that enables the primary camera to capture images with smooth autofocus in exquisite detail. It allows up to 9 images to be used in pixel-binning1 so you can capture better image quality even in low-light situations, making the realme 9 the ideal night-out companion.

If you’re looking into exploring new perspectives, another impressive camera specification is the Street Photography Mode 2.0, which provides a variety of features catered to different mobile photography needs such as Peek & Zoom, as well as the added 90s Pop Street filter among others.

The following are the available modes for the built-in camera application: Night, Street, Video, Photo, Portrait, 108M, and these below:

The video of the realme 9 can record up to 1080p at 30 frames per second (fps). An Ultra-Steady option is available on Video mode from 1X zoom to 0.6X zoom maximum.

Display, Buttons, And Front Camera

Upfront is a 6.4-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED display with an in-display fingerprint sensor with a Heart Rate Monitor capability. It has a 90Hz refresh rate for that smooth and fluid scrolling and movie binge-watching experience. The 360Hz touch sampling rate lets you register your taps and presses faster, ideal for your mobile gaming during your spare time. The 16MP Selfie Camera makes use of the Clear Fusion Algorithm for better color quality on your selfie and for better facial recognition.

On the right side is where the lone power button is located, while on the left, we can find the dual SIM tray that can house two nano-sized SIM cards, and a dedicated microSD memory card. Below the SIM card slot is the volume rocker. Down at the bottom resides the USB Type-C port, 3.5mm headphone jack, and speaker grills. Both the top and the bottom side have a microphone; one below is the primary microphone, and at the top is the noise-canceling for clearer call reception.

The display can give out up to 1000 nits of peak brightness for excellent viewing under direct sunlight. Aside from the fact that you can experience a smooth and vibrant display thanks to its Super AMOLED Display, it has approximately 84.4% screen-to-body ratio for comfortable viewing. It has also Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection.

Internal Power And Software (OS, Processors, etc.)

What’s in the box?

Not only does the realme 9 has impressive camera features, and an amazing display, but it is also backed up with the very capable 6nm octa-core, battery-efficient Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 Processor. It houses four Cortex-A73 cores that clock up to 2.4GHz and four Cortex-A53 cores that clock up to 1.9GHz, which basically means you can multitask and switch between applications with ease and without consuming too much power.

Another thing to note is that this processor has an Adreno 610 GPU so users can play heavy-duty mobile games without worrying about draining the battery or experiencing lags or delays.

Complementing its processor is a large 5,000mAh battery with 33W Dart Charge that can obtain from empty to full charge in only 75 minutes so you can stretch your creativity throughout the day. It also comes with 128GB of built-in internal storage that is expandable to 256GB via the micro-SD card slot. It has 6GB of RAM and a Dynamic RAM Expansion (DRE) option of up to 5GB for better gameplay and multitasking.

Lastly, it comes with the new realme UI 3.0 based on Android 12 for improved user interface, security, and personalization features.

Capture Beyond Limits and Unleash Your Creativity All Day Long with the realme 9!

The realme 9 is one smartphone that can absolutely be considered as a companion to unleash our creativity all day long. With its flagship-level camera specifications, amazing Super AMOLED display, battery power capacity, and overall performance with its processors, the realme is a good option for mobile photography enthusiasts and heavy social media users with its retail price of only β‚±14,999 (6GB+128GB variant) currently available at your local realme store, authorized reseller, and dealers, and the realme official flagship stores on Lazada, and Shopee.

If you’re into gaming, the realme 9 can provide good handling performance with its optimized 6nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 Processor, CPU, GPU, and battery power capacity of 5,000mAh that is capable of 33W Dart Charge. What’s missing for me is the dual stereo speakers for louder and much deeper loudspeakers during gaming or video binge-watching. Since dark-colored back panels have the tendency to be a fingerprint magnet, that’s a thing with the realme 9 if you get the Meteor Black (even though it has its minimalist vibe to it).
