A movie where Harry Potter fanatic like me will experience another magical adventure. The tales of magizoologist, Newton Artemis Fido “Newt” Scamander, will be told on a live-action movie this November in cinemas with his journey, inspired from a J.K. Rowling’s book “Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them” with his name as the author’s pseudonym.
Excited Things About The “Fantastic Beasts” Movie
What amazes me about the movie is that it’s not based on the book. It is only inspired from it, which is not a storybook after all, and it tells about Scamander’s travel to the different parts of the world (in this movie, in New York) while working at the Ministry of Magic’s Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures. The “Fantastic Beasts” book is a school book of magical creatures in the Harry Potter universe. Thus, making this movie a very exciting film to watch where J.K. Rowling herself created a new story. It is her first work as a screenwriter for a film.
The movie was set in 1926 when Newt Scamander, played by Academy Award winner Eddie Redmayne, arrived in New York to scout for magical creatures for a job assigned to him by the Ministry of Magic. He carried with him a suitcase full of these creatures, but unfortunately, a muggle (from what I know, called “NoMaj” in America) let these magical animals escaped.
As a Harry Potter fan, and aside from the fact that the Fantastic Beasts book is already amazing with its collection of magical creatures (some we’ve already seen in the Harry Potter movies), the upcoming movie will let us explore what the wizarding world is like outside Britain. With J.K. Rowling’s announcement of her new stories on her website, Pottermore, she released names of magical schools around the world, and one of them is in the United States. Its name, Ilvermorny School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, and is located in Eastern North America.
I am not sure if Ilvermorny will be featured in the new movie. What I am definitely sure is the American Ministry of Magic, the Magical Congress of the United States of America (also known as MACUSA), will be seen on film. An American wizard will be set on trial for questioning about Scamander arriving in New York and the escape of magical creatures from his suitcase. With the knowledge of the American Minister, the MACUSA Auror, Percival Graves, a member of an elite unit of highly-trained, specialist officers who are trained to investigate crimes related to the Dark Arts, was sent to track Newt Scamander.
Colin Farrell will play the role of Percival Graves.
To further heighten your excitement on this movie, here is an official trailer released:
The first of three five Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them movies is set to be featured on November 18, 2016, in cinemas on both 3D and IMAX.
Please be mindful that Harry Potter does not exist in this film. Again, this was set in 1926 and Harry Potter was born in 1980. But, Professor Albus Dumbledore already did and he was already teaching at Hogwarts during the story of the film.
By the way, Newt Scamander is a Hufflepuff.
